defibrillator)

NEXT CLASS
BEGINS: November 23, 2009
The use of
emergency oxygen equipment assists the first aid provider in meeting the
ill or injured patient's critical need for oxygen in an emergency.
When illness or injury reduces the body's ability to process oxygen,
shock will soon occur unless the effects of the decreased amount of
oxygen in the blood can be reversed.
Providing
supplemental emergency oxygen in conjunction with life supporting
emergency care is a simple and effective method of increasing the
patient's chance of a successful recovery. In fact, it is usually
one of the first medical measures taken by emergency medical personnel
in the field and in the hospital.
The MEDIC
FIRST AID Emergency Oxygen Supplement uses video scenarios, in-class
demonstrations, and hands-on student practice sessions to teach the use
of emergency oxygen. Following this supplement you will be
confident in your ability to use emergency oxygen equipment in addition
to life supporting emergency care to assist in an emergency.
PRE-REQUISITES--Students must be
certified and current in First Aid and CPR training before start of the oxygen
class.
